A Trip to Titan’s Teeth (Almost)

Trees Doesn’t Like Giants

One of the first trips out was with some Khorvairen adventurer types who wanted to get to Titan’s Teeth, which are mountains at the base of the Skyfall Peninsula. This is pretty far for a newbie like me, but we were going to be taking the Brazen Pegasus (fast ship captained by dad’s gnome buddy Ortimay Swift) down through the Hydra which would get us most of the way there. Captain Ortimay is a cool lady. Super calm even when we got attacked by sahuagin raiders. Her crew is top notch too and I pretty much was directed to the crow’s nest to keep me safe. I got to toss a few darts at the raiders though and did pretty good. Actually, got one of ‘em right in the eye. A bit gruesome but they were trying to kill or enslave us and take our stuff, so I don’t feel too bad about it. There were a few more incidents before we made landfall, but again, Ortimay’s crew knows what they’re doing.

We hit land and took off for the Teeth. Never seen anything like ‘em. It’s a relatively small cluster of mountains but they are incredibly high, and I was thinking that this is going to be a great test of how well I really can climb. That turned out to be somewhat true, but the adventurers were lookin’ for something called a Titan Pillar. Apparently, there are several but the one they wanted was closer to the edge of the mountains. Uncle Trees was none too happy when he found out about them wanting to ‘activate’ the pillar since this is known to draw giants. Once that information came across it was decided that Trees would stay back with me a couple miles from the endpoint. I found this to be very disappointing, but I know they had my best interest at heart. Still sucks though. Apparently, they made it to the pillar thing and successfully activated it. The party got what they needed from it and they all started to head back to Trees and me. They didn’t get far before some giants hit ‘em. Dad made it back with four of the five but the party’s mage, Brevarus, got so smooshed with a boulder that they couldn’t even recover his body. They held the giants off long enough to get away, but they said the giants just kind of stopped pursuing after they got about a mile away from the pillar. We all hightailed it back to the Brazen Pegasus and got home safely. Despite the loss of their friend, the adventurers seemed pretty happy with their trip.
