Back to Stormreach and Back to My Studies

Near the end of day three, we make it back to Stormreach. This is also cool to see from above and we proceed to dock at Falconer’s Spire. The Winds Pleasure was going to be in town for about a week for the crew to get some R&R and for them to get their cargo loaded before heading back to Khorvaire. Gwen, Jerrold, and I head to the university to lock up our notes and several little artifacts that we’d gained (various mineral and flora samples from Khyber). That done, we all say our goodbyes and start heading off to our respective homes when I ask if they’d like to grab a drink first. We decide this is a good idea as this has been a rather abrupt transition back into our world. We go to one of the quieter taverns near the campus and have a couple drinks before heading home.

The drinks were helpful because when I got home it was suddenly bedlam. A good number of my extended family was there because it was my Dad’s birthday (oops, forgot), and I was greeted by way too many people who’d had way more to drink than I had. It was nice, but a lot to take in. I survived though and dad said me coming back today was the best gift he could ask for <insert goofy smile here>.

Over the next week I bring Captain Sora’vel to our home for dinner and she gets to speaking with various members of the family who will put out the word about employment opportunities. Brook seems interested but wants to stay in Stormreach. She offers to help with cargo transport here (again, she a big, strong girl) but after a discussion with Butterfly and Thunder, the Captain offers her a position as a personal bodyguard and guide whenever she’s in town. Brook is thrilled with this and eventually gets extra work doing the same for other Lyrandar captains that dock in Stormreach. As of this writing, she was doing quite well for herself and even owns her own place in Stormreach now. More importantly, she even said thank you to me for bringing her the opportunity.

Prof. Ren decided he was going to head back to Sharn for the season where he’d work on some of the formulae he’d learned from the Umbragen. Jerrold was going to be going with him, so we got together and said our goodbyes. Before leaving, Prof. Ren’dall gave both Gwen and me a fancy scroll tube sealed with the Lyrandar seal and his personal one. He said it was a personal recommendation that should allow us passage on any Lyrandar vessel (apparently you have to pass a personal interview to get onto some ships as they are not very open to letting aboard ne’er-do-wells who might make trouble for passengers who’ve spent a pretty copper on a trouble-free trip).
