Alright, time to go check out the docks. Similar to the Airship Tower, I see Crows circling for safety, though here most of the tugboating is done by, well, real boats. A crew of Lizardfolk is talking in Draconic, shouting here-and-there, keeping an eye on the boats from the waterside and docks, and a few braver souls crouch or lay on pathing and rock-buoys. The Crows mostly appear to be circling and watching for things or accidents further to sea. Here and there I see people drop things overboard, at which point a Lizardfolk will hop into the water and…
Vacation in Stormhome: Around Cliffwash > Center Spire > Airship Tower
Since I had such a fun time on the airship heading up here, I decided to go have lunch at the airship tower in the capital of all airship traffic so I can watch the ships and people come and go while enjoying a meal. As I watch I notice they come and go on an exceedingly prompt schedule, making no allowances for a passenger being even a minute late. It looks like if you’re late, there are passenger crews of hippogriff-carriages that will chase down the ships and get you on board, so long as it’s not been more…

So, I head over to the Xen’drikan embassy to see what’s up with the hometown crowd. It’s right next to the Q’barran embassy, so apparently, they like to stick the jungle types near one another. A lot of talkin’ goes down while I’m here so if your sick of readin’, you may want the TL:DR version: Met Thaddan (from Xen’drik) and Amw (Q’barran) and had a nice talk about all sorts of fun, interesting, sad, and upsetting stuff. Anyway… There’s a pale, gecko-like Lizardfolk chattin’ with a Xen’drikan*, sharing lunch (some sort of tapas plate), and laughing. When they notice…
Professor Gwendolyn and I Write a Book
Aryth, 993 – Nymm, 994 YK Over the next few months Gwen and I work on getting our notes together and writing a few papers to be published and I actually get included as a coauthor due to my “creative and intellectual contribution to the work.” The first three were huge successes (Gwen is a much better writer than I am, but I do take extensive and detailed notes) and she’s asked repeatedly to return to Sharn to speak. She says no for now but it’s now on her future agenda. As we start on our fourth paper Gwen decides…
Back to Stormreach and Back to My Studies
Near the end of day three, we make it back to Stormreach. This is also cool to see from above and we proceed to dock at Falconer’s Spire. The Winds Pleasure was going to be in town for about a week for the crew to get some R&R and for them to get their cargo loaded before heading back to Khorvaire. Gwen, Jerrold, and I head to the university to lock up our notes and several little artifacts that we’d gained (various mineral and flora samples from Khyber). That done, we all say our goodbyes and start heading off to…
Getting into College Isn’t That Difficult
Aryth, 991 YK After learning and helping in the library, gramps helps me branch out some by introducing me to other scholars in Stormreach. Along with his work for the Lassites, it seems that Sandal is also a research asset and adjunct professor at Morgrave University’s satellite campus in Stormreach. This when I meet Gwendolyn Nephret, the professor from Sharn I mentioned previously. This intro, and my ability to impress Professor Gwen with info on the goblins, etc. is also how I became a student at Morgrave University (MU). This began with a two-year study program at the Xen’drik campus…
Gramps Lights My Path to Cultural Exploration
Lharvion, 991 – Eyre, 992 YK Grandpa Broken Sandal (Sandal) is a retired bard and the current sage/head Librarian of the Lassites library in Stormreach. The Lassites are one the Storm Lord families and they oversee diplomacy and commerce within the city. The family’s current head is Varen Lassite. Of all the Storm Lords, Lord Varen is the only one who is beloved by his subjects. He has a reputation for generosity, and he will buy a drink for anyone who suffers misfortune in the Marketplace. He is the epitome of the dashing swashbuckler—clever, witty, with a fine eye for…
The Tabaxi and the Goblins – My Time in Yellyark
Rhaan, 990 – Eyre, 991 YK So, the Helm of Volaar will be handed over after lot of gems and various metal weapons and shields are handed over. Done. Plus, Jhazaali, Duusha, Valii, and I have to stay with the village for a period of approximately seven months to teach the Biting Ants about battle (more the Dhakaani’s job), Xen’drik outside of the general area of the village (my job), and whatever they may ask about. I’ll get to some of that a little later. But first, some general info on living in Yellyark. Though we’d been wandering the jungle…
Working with Dad Gets Me into Goblin Culture
My Intro to Kech Volaar (e.g., Coolest Goblinoids on the Planet) Barrakas – Rhaan, 990 YK There are some cool people I got to meet going out with dad and Trees and I really did learn a lot about surviving in the jungle, fighting for my life both face-to-face and from a nice hidden position, and how to keep an eye out for danger in general. One of my favorites was the time we were hired on by a couple Dhakaani hobgoblins, Jhazaali, a duur’kala, or “dirge singer” and Tariic (the glory seeker and singer of his own praises). They…
Dad’s Job is Fun but Dangerous (Which Just Means More Fun)
Now we get to my time training alongside my father. This is where I got to learn more about different cultures hands-on, and how my interest in anthropology blossomed. Also helped me to hone my survival skills and hiding. Sometimes it’s waaay better to hide than fight, especially when even dad and uncle Trees tell the group to get scarce. I went on quite a few jobs with him and as my skills got better, I got to go deeper and deeper into the jungle. Now, Xen’drik is huge. I know people on Khorvaire think it’s tough to get all-around…
Geez, My Aunts Know How to Keep a Person Busy
That’s Right, I Said Zapoo I also got to help with guarding a Lyrandar captain, a halfling merchant who was transporting a few wagons full of expensive textiles from the dyeworks to his ship, and a couple Tairnadal elves who were in town to meet with a clan member of theirs named Zapoo. I’d heard of him and even got to read a couple of his essays, later on, that talked of his adventures in Xen’drik. A little contrived but a decent read. Wish I’d gotten a chance to talk to him, but I didn’t know about his writings until…
My Continuing Work with Butterfly and Thunder
Half-Orcs are Tough Cool and Aereni are Creepy Cool The elves we worked for were from Aerenal and had those skeleton tattoos on their faces. They were doin’ some negotiating with House Tharashk for some Siberys dragonshards and I got to see Ront again. I also got to hear a bit of the negotiations while standin’ around watching out for any funny biz. The Aereni are an odd lot. Sorry I haven’t gotten a chance to head over there and learn more about ‘em, but one day.
