These Goblinoids are Awesome and I Learn Some Stuff

As mentioned, these goblins (of Yellyark) are semi-nomadic in their own awesome way and Dad explains the difficulties of finding them. We spend several days going up and down various tributaries and even hit parts of the Hydra again. There are some battles but with dad and Trees perceiving what was coming and the fighting prowess of the Volaar, short work is made of all that comes our way. Again, I’m still pretty young and told to hide but I do get the occasional dart or thrown dagger into a target. Let’s get back to the Volaar fighting prowess. Each and every one was pretty amazing, and their weapons and armor were the finest my father said he’d ever seen. That includes his work with House Cannith and his interactions with Sulatar Drow and their adamantine gear. Thuun and Duusha may not be the smartest, but their strength and skill was astonishing. Jhazaali fought like the finest of swordsman from the arena in Stormreach and cast spells that supported and healed any who needed it. Tariic (glory seeker that he is) backed up his stories of battlefield prowess and I found he is considered a battle master amongst his people. Vanii had strange elixirs and explosive devices that scared or blew apart some enemies. Valii was even faster than I am, could disappear into the shadowy jungle in a blink of an eye and return just as quickly with a deadly precise attack. During this trip I listened to any story Jhazaali would tell and learned everything I could from Valii (because she was super badass, and my skills seemed best used in those lines). She showed me how to be stealthier, as well as some important anatomical points that are pretty universal if you know what to look for in a creature. Umm… just in case it needs to be stated, these “anatomical points” are strategic for stabbing, not for… acts of a more carnal nature. Just so you know. Not that I have anything against goblins, but they lack… I don’t know. Fur? That’s not it. Who knows? Doesn’t matter. Why am I not just blotting this out? Cause that’s not what memoirs are about. And I was still only 14. Ugh… this is going badly.
I think I went off track again. Just suffice it to say that I respect Valii for her vast amount of martial skill and considerable roguish aptitudes, and seeing her work helped guide some of the direction of what I can do today as a roguish figure in my own right. We did a lot of boat rowing and traipsing through the jungle. We eventually met up with a group of Vulkorian Drow. Never really a friendly lot but they didn’t attack outright, and dad was able to keep the situation under control and have a conversation with them. They were able to give us a location for Yellyark as of a couple weeks back. Chances were they were still there or within a 1000 or so yards from there, so off we went. It was less than a day away, but we knew everyone got a little more antsy in the jungle at night, whether you had darkvision or not, so we set up camp and decided to head out early the next morning.
