Vacation in Stormhome: Around Cliffwash > Dawnside > Theaters

Head on over to the theater district to see what they got goin’ on here. There are a few and each has a little something different. Some stuff I’ve seen in Sharn so I take note of the ones I haven’t: one actually bills a Xen’drikan myth, one a Lhazaar pirate romance, and one a Phiarlan classic tragedy that is famous for its effects. All of them serve food inside, though as I look at the menu I notice none of the food is crunchy or particularly smelly. If only Sharn had the same considerations.

Well, that Xen’drikan tale sounds like somethin’ to see. I head back to the Nixie to talk to a few peeps I’ve met. Have to see if anyone is up for dinner and a show tonight. Turns out Gale is up for it, so out we go. A bit of dinner first and some good convo with Gale. Pretty fascinating guy. Air Genasi handed off to Lyrandar shortly after his birth. Grew up to become a Crow and serves under Fiohn’annan Esravash d’Lyrandar, one of the scions of the House. I’ve been talkin’ to her quite a bit as well. She prefers to go by Fiona and initially seems more down to earth than some members of the Houses are. Oh! And she’s the niece of Professor Ren’dall. Weird coincidence. Um… anyway, back to the show.

The show depicts a series of tales of how the Cat Lord’s favored friend, a spider (or Spider, as it may be), managed to trick the longest snake, the wariest wasps, and the fiercest jaguar in the jungle and present them to the Cat Lord. The Cat Lord was so impressed by Spider’s bravery and wit that he gave Spider six more eyes because “he was going to need it” for angering the wasps, jaguars, and snakes. And then a story goes on to tell how they managed to get Spider right back, and the Cat Lord gave them their forked tongue, angry buzz, and brilliant spots for the sport.

So this is a fairly common series of stories within the Red Leaf clan and most other Xen’drikan Tabaxi clans. The troupe performing, mostly elves and half-elves, got most of the story right (probably thanks to Thaddan) except for the pronunciations, and to the troupe’s credit, they did have a feline-ish Shifter playing the Cat Lord, and he did a very good job. Spider appeared to have some boots of Spider Climb, or something, which made the antics all the more fun to watch. All-in-all it was a fun night.
